Montserrat is Catalunya's pride, a very strange shaped mountain with a famous monastery that became Spain's favorite pilgrim place. The home of the Black Madonna and a part of the famous Santiago de Compostela pilgrim route . The monastery situated almost on the peak provides us with a spectacular view and an incredible nature.The Benedictine monks produce some extraordinary liqueurs using local herbs and fruits and their cuisine is also a culinary delight. Another site will be the Cardona Castle of the lords of the salt mountain! Constructed more than 1, 000 years ago, the Castle of Cardona is one of the most well-preserved remnants of Spanish antiquity in all of Spain. A still-standing decree from centuries ago requires that citizens of Cardona take one day each year to work on the maintenance and preservation of the grand ruin, which may explain its remarkable present-day appearance. Optional after the castle visit we could also visit the salt mines.

Itenerary
After Hotel pick up we will be driving for little less than an hour to reach the Monastery on the Montserrat Mountain. You will be guided around to all historical sites filled with legends and beauty and we will end up in the Basilica to see the Black Madonna's famous image. Then, we will be heading to the town of Cardona to visit its spectacular Castle
After the castle visit we couls optional also visit the salt mines very interesting mineral formation like colorful stalactites !
We will also plan a catalan lunch break. After that we will be heading back to Barcelona
